Our History
The attorneys at McCraw Gantt have a rich history in Collin County and North Texas.
McCraw family roots in the area date back to the 1830s – before Collin County was
founded and before Texas was a state.
In 1844, John L. McCraw, Jr.’s great-great-great grandfather John Yeary was one of
five commissioners who selected the Central National Road right-of-way for the
Republic of Texas, a road from the Red River to what is now the center of Dallas.
In 1908, John L. McCraw, Jr.’s great grandfather Marcus D. McCraw opened McCraw
Candies, a Farmersville, Texas candy manufacturing company. McCraw Candies
became well known in Texas and the South. Several generations of McCraws
worked in the candy business, and while the McCraw family is no longer affiliated
with McCraw Candies, products that originated in the McCraw family continue in
production under the family name.
Today, McCraw Gantt attorneys remain committed to the prosperity of the people
